James Miller has been working in the residential mortgage industry for nearly twenty years, starting in 2003 as the receptionist for Colonial National Mortgage’s branch in Arlington, Texas… where he now serves as the branch manager. For James, employment at Colonial quickly changed from a job to a career, as the realization that the ability to help put individuals and families into homes with integrity, honesty, and fairness was a way to put into practice the principles that had raised him. 

James is thoroughly experienced in all aspects of the mortgage process, from traditional mortgage offerings such as Conventional, FHA, and VA financing, to more complex products such as Single-Close Custom Construction, Condo financing, and Renovation loans. Whether for a purchase or refinance, or for a primary residence, vacation home, or investment property, the experience that comes with having been involved in the closing of thousands of loans carries with it a value that is uncommon in today’s mortgage environment. 

The fact that Colonial retains the servicing on almost all of the mortgage loans they originate is a big reason why James has chosen to call Colonial home all these years. Anyone can close a loan in 30 days, but what happens for the next 30 years is of utmost importance, and James enjoys telling his clients at the closing table that when they need assistance in the future, they call him direct. James is often overheard saying, “You only call customer service if I’m on vacation.” Being able to be someone’s ‘lender for life’ in reality – and not just as a marketing gimmick – is a huge reason that Colonial is the trusted company that they are – and have been since 1952.

A graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington, James resides in Arlington with his wife Erin, who is a stay-at-home mom to their four children. Outside of the office, James coaches his son’s little league baseball team, volunteers as a camp counselor at an annual youth summer camp in the hill country, and the family is actively involved with the Northwest church of Christ in Arlington.
