Junior Achievement

At the end of last year, Dave Motley, President of Colonial, was approached by Randal Mays, President of Junior Achievement (JA) of the Chisholm Trail to explore ways in which the bank could renew its involvement with JA through their Volunteer Engagement Program.Junior-Achievement-Trimble-Tech-web.jpg

From those initial discussions grew the design for a multifaceted instruction program to be launched as the 2016 school year got underway. In October, Colonial's JA Financial Literacy Program was underway with two schools in the Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD). This year we will be providing instructions at Stripling Middle School and Trimble Tech High School.

Headquartered in Fort Worth, Junior Achievement (JA) of the Chisholm Trail was founded in 1956. Since its inception, JA has grown to more than 150 sponsoring companies serving more than 28,000 students annually.

JA offers activity-based, interactive instruction that focuses on entrepreneurship, financial literacy as well as career and college readiness.

Thank you to all the Colonial volunteers for assisting with this wonderful program. Teaching financial literacy, savings tips and the value of educating oneself about finances will be an invaluable tool for these students for the rest of their lives.
