Colonial Employees Donate Care Packages to the Troops

For many men and women who are serving in the military across the country and the world, unfortunately, they will be unable to make it home for the holidays. They are stationed across the globe on bases, ships and submarines, miles away from the ones they love the most. Colonial employees wanted to find a way to bring some of the comforts of home to these men and women who sacrifice so much to keep us safe.

The idea stemmed from Sabine Wade, VP of Underwriting at Colonial's corporate headquarters. Her son, Justin Browning, is currently deployed as a Marine in the Western Pacific and will not be home for the holidays. carepackage-for-the-troops-boxes.jpg

"They missed Thanksgiving with their families and will miss Christmas and New Years as well," said Wade. "This is a way to show them we are thinking about them and appreciate their sacrifice of being away from their loved ones during the holidays."

Colonial employees rallied together quickly and generously, donating enough items to fill seven very large boxes. Because of these generous contributions, troops stationed in Qatar, Korea, Italy, Spain, Japan and ships in the Western Pacific and Asia will be able to enjoy a little taste of home this holiday season.

Along with a special message from Colonial, items donated included board games, homemade goods, books, DVDs, magazines, snacks, blankets, toiletries and much more.

Thank you to everyone who contributed! We look forward to planning future donations to the men and women stationed around the world.
